In 2011 IAPB’s VISION 2020 workshop programme became the new IAPB Learning and Development programme. In this section of the website you will be able to access information on the various programmes falling under the IAPB Learning and Development banner, as well as learning documents, videos and external resources related to eye health, health systems, disability and evelopment. 

VISION 2020 workshops

Approximately 25 VISION 2020 workshops take place every year, tackling specific national or regional priorities. The topics are identified by National Eye Health Coordinators (NEC) / National Prevention of Blindness Coordinators (NPBC) in conjunction with the regional IAPB offices.

Global strategic workshops

For matters of global interests requiring a coordinated global approach, IAPB organises global strategic workshops. These are held when the need arises, most recently in 2010, to determine global research priorities for VISION 2020, and in 2012, on health systems strengthening for eye care.  Global themes are identified by IAPB members. 

VISION 2020 Links Programme

The Links Programme works with overseas partner institutions to identify their main needs and priorities and then match those requirements with a suitable UK training eye unit.

Learning Materials

In 2011 IAPB published the National Eye Health Coordinator manual, this brought together materials developed for the Capacity Building workshops and is intended as a stand alone resource for National Eye Health Coordinators (NECs) / National Prevention of Blindness Coordinators (NPBCs) to support them in their daily work. IAPB is currently producing an Advocacy Guide and Tool Kit which will support IAPB members and their partners to develop their advocacy plans. We are also building a video library with promotional and awareness video produced by us as well as other organisations on a variety of eye health related themes.
