Blindness and visual impairment is cited as both the cause and the effect of poverty. This reality demands a much broader perspective to blindness prevention efforts that transcend the narrow confines of eye care in order to encompass a development perspective. Social Entrepreneurship is a powerful tool to merge eye care services with the development agenda by not only creating opportunities for individuals but also expanding sustainable solutions for the eradication of avoidable blindness and visual impairment.
This symposium focused upon understanding social entrepreneurship and how social entrepreneurship can be applied in blindness prevention context.
