Our goal is to identify sustainable, transformative care delivery models for accessible, efficient, low-cost, high-quality community-based imaging and early diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. Also, we are trying to recognize portable, less-expensive, easy-to-use, remote eye imaging platforms that non-expert imagers can operate on non-dilated pupils.

Additionally, we are working on an automated image interpretation algorithm that allows for synchronous (real-time) image retinal image interpretation and fast and accurate disease identification.

Potential benefits of these efforts include good and inexpensive care accessible to everyone, early diagnosis and improved visual outcome and quality of life, improved quality of care metrics for annual screening of diabetic patients in health care systems, facilitating efficient, high volume screening of retinal diseases at reduced costs, improved utilization of ophthalmic care and resources
