500 Cities Initiative – Vision & Eye Health Community Response

Published: 11.04.2017
Letter submitted to the leadership of the 500 Cities Project
A letter was submitted on behalf of 165 organisations that includes IAPB to the 500 Cities Project leadership, over the exclusion of vision and eye health in the 27 chronic disease measures it tracks. The letter brings together the eye health community in the United States to address the vision and eye health gap in the project.

The purpose of the 500 Cities Project is to provide city- and census tract-level small area estimates for chronic disease risk factors, health outcomes, and clinical preventive service use for the largest 500 cities in the United States. It is a collaboration between Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the CDC Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
