The World Report on Vision launch in October 2019 was but the first in a long series of global advocacy activities (and successes!) For those who were concerned about losing momentum due to the pandemic, rest assure that work continues – and with very positive results. In May the World Health Assembly adopted two new global targets on eye health. We will be providing more information soon (including how to measure and how to advocate to your health authorities).

Note that these are ten year targets. This is appropriate as we pass out of the Vision 2020 period and look towards a new decade. Indeed, the next global phase in eye health – 2030 Insight – is due to be launched in the next month. It’s a ten year plan with these ambitious (and exciting targets) at its core. Stay tuned for more.
