IAPB hails success of first global event in over two years

For the past two years it has been impossible for organisations to gather to discuss the key questions of the time. However, last week at 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE!, IAPB and its partners Noor Dubai and the Seva Foundation were able to do just that bringing together leaders, innovators and changemakers from NGOs, Businesses, social enterprises, governments, and international bodies online and in Dubai. People from across the sight sector and beyond gathered for an intense programme based on ‘2030 in Sight’, the new sector strategy endorsed last year to replace Vision2020.   

Speaking after the event Peter Holland Chief Executive of IAPB said “One of our goals at IAPB is to build partnerships across the eye health sector. It was fantastic, for the first time in so long, to bring together people from such a wide range of organisations, including NGOs, social enterprises, academic institutions, and the public and private sectors all committed to achieving a world where no one experiences unnecessary or preventable sight loss for the first time in so long. It is important, as we begin implementing our new strategy 2030 In Sight, that we encourage new partners to join us from both inside and outside the sector, and from business as well as the eye health community.” 

Peter Holland continued “Positive partnerships formed through collaboration, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to our common goals will all be vital parts of achieving our 2030 in Sight mission. 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE! provided IAPB members and others an opportunity to convene together to discuss the many solutions required to solve the problem of avoidable sight loss including the importance of bringing together business, government, philanthropy, and NGOs if we are truly to end avoidable sight loss by 2030”.
