IAPB would like to welcome three new Group C members to our coalition, Conselho Brasileiro De Oftalmologia – CBO, Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute and Japan National Society for the Prevention of Blindness.

Conselho Brasileiro De Oftalmologia – CBO joined IAPB in April. Founded in 1941, the Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology (CBO) is a scientific and cultural association of medical ophthalmologists. The main entity representative of the specialty in Brazil, the CBO’s fundamental mission is the promotion of visual and ocular health of the population. To achieve this goal, the Council carries out several actions in defence of the technical-scientific and ethical improvement of ophthalmologist physicians and also in the defence of their professional prerogatives.

Pushpagiri Vitreo Retina Institute also joined IAPB in April, they are a not-for-profit super specialty eye hospital in Hyderabad, India which aims to deliver quality eye care to the society. The group comprises of three centers located at Secunderabad, Vizianagaram and Hyderabad. Standing by their motto “An Eye For Affordable Service”, PVRI focuses on providing the finest in eye care to the common man at an affordable price.

Japan National Society for the Prevention of Blindness, are IAPB’s most recent members and joined us in June. They work for the purpose of research funding for the elucidation of causes of blindness and prevention of blindness. The whole body was established as a Japan Trademark Prevention Association, which was approved on July 27, 1920;  an association with a very long history of academic on blindness prevention. It is a not-for-profit public benefit corporation that carries out activities such as dissemination and enlightenment of knowledge on prevention of blindness in addition to funding for research.
