Baltimore, MD, December 1, 2020 – KeraLink International, a nonprofit organization working to end corneal blindness globally, is pleased to announce Ngu Morcho as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 16, 2020.
Morcho was selected for the position following an extensive search, conducted by the search firm Korn Ferry, to find the best candidate to help execute KeraLink International’s new mission to develop solutions to make treatment of corneal blindness affordable and accessible to all in need, which KeraLink adopted following the sale of its domestic eye bank network in 2019.

Morcho has over twenty years of experience in early-stage technology development working in Africa and across India and Southeast Asia, most recently serving as the Founder and Managing Director of Yako Medical Africa, Ltd, a healthcare technology solutions platform based in Nigeria. Prior to founding Yako Medical, he served as General Manager and Project Development Leader for GE Healthcare in West & Central Africa and Founder and Managing Director at SaiTek Solutions Inc, where in both roles he was focused on healthcare and social infrastructure projects in Africa. Morcho is also an Ashoka fellow and is a veteran of the US Navy.

“I am honored to have the unique opportunity to lead KeraLink as it develops an ecosystem to deliver technologies that will dramatically improve corneal blindness treatment for those most in need. We will use our resources to leverage impact investment partners who are as committed as we are to ensuring accessibility, affordability and sustainability. This will help create long-term value for all stakeholders in places where new technologies, properly deployed, will allow many people who are now corneally blind to see again,” said Morcho.

Morcho is replacing Douglas Furlong, who has served as Chief Executive Officer of KeraLink International since 2015. Prior to his position as CEO Furlong was a member of the Board of Directors for fifteen years. He will continue to serve as Chairman of KeraLink’s Board and maintain an active role in the organization. “When the Board and I decided to bring on a new CEO, our purpose was to recruit a professional with the ideal background to carry out our new mission focused onbringing product technology to underserved markets. Ngu brings a unique combination of expertise that includes strategic relationships, product development and business model innovation for emerging markets. These skills will be instrumental in removing the barriers that people who are denied access to corneal blindness treatment currently face because of where they live. I’m delighted to be working with Ngu to achieve our goals,” said Furlong.
