Vision for a Nation logo/ Story: Vacancy: Eye Health Team Lead (Ghana) Vision for a Nation Foundation (VFAN) is looking to fill the position of an Eye Health Team Lead in Ghana. The successful candidate must have the legal right to live and work in Ghana indefinitely.

The purpose of the Eye Health Lead is to support the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to build capacity to deliver eye care within the primary health care system. This is a supervisory and co-ordinating role that requires both clinical experience and supervisory experience and includes the management of a small team of VFAN Eye Health Officers.

Reporting in to the Programmes Manager in Ghana, the Eye Health Lead will be responsible for planning and supervising the clinical aspects of the implementation of the VFAN Programme in Ghana. They will train, lead and manage the Eye Health Team to deliver the Primary Eye Care (PEC) training programme to nurses and health workers in selected region/districts. Working with the appropriate GHS personnel, they will plan, supervise and facilitate awareness raising, vision and eye health screening, vision correction and monitor referrals and ongoing treatment.

The Eye Health Lead will ensure that all work is compliant with the appropriate laws, standards and guidelines for primary eye care, including (but not limited to) World Health Organization, GHS & VFANF.

This role would be ideal for a qualified eye health professional (with at least 2-3 years’ experience post qualification) with management/supervisory experience that is looking for a new challenge and to contribute to a small but growing international development organisation.

This role will be pivotal in the design and implementation of VFAN’s first programmes in Ghana and as such requires an individual that is a self-starter and that can work under their own initiative. It requires an individual that can cope with and manage uncertainty, rapid change and manage a team to deliver exceptional results in such an environment.
