Associação de Profissionais Licenciados de Optometria

The Association of Licensed Optometry Professionals is the representant of the Portuguese Optometrists, with 1,325 Members. It plays the role of self-regulation of the profession in Portugal. Its vision is a world where everyone has access to visual health care, proximity, in the community, timely and with quality and safety. Its mission is to ensure access to more and better eye health care for all. Founded in 1998, to be a Member of APLO a qualification level between the BSc and PhD in Optometry, at university level, is needed. As a representant of Portuguese Optometrists, APLO is present in several international and national organizations, promotes studies and issues opinions on the provision of eyecare in Portugal.
