IAPB’s new Europe Regional Chair, Wolfgang Gindorfer, has joined the President of the European Council of Optometry and Optics and the CEO of Global Coalition on Aging to call upon the European Commission to include vision and eye health into the Green Paper on Ageing “Fostering  solidarity and responsibility between generations” as well as into any related future work strands and policy initiatives.

The letter highlights the important relationship between vision and ageing. Over 73% of people with vision loss are older adults. Without the ability to see, older adults struggle to learn, read or gain fulfilling  employment, and will be more likely to suffer depression, exclusion and die earlier.
