The Arclight Project

The Arclight Project, a social enterprise based in the School of Medicine at the University of St Andrews, designs innovative, cost-effective eye and ear devices. Sales in high-income countries subsidise those working in low to middle income countries to equip, train and empower health workers of all grades to diagnose and manage eye and ear disease.

Our compact and easy-to-use devices feature solar panels and LEDs, creating robust, low-cost WHO recommended instruments. No replacing blown bulbs or worrying about dead batteries, just powerful tools for health professionals worldwide, that help expand access to affordable and inclusive care.
