This World Sight Day, OneSight is proud to join IAPB and eye health supporters from around the world in the largest global World Sight Day movement ever. As part of the collaborative effort to get 1 million pairs of eyes checked, OneSight has pledged to provide over 25,000 vision screenings and eye exams worldwide and will empower those patients with clear sight by providing glasses to those who need them.

Over the course of four weeks, OneSight staff and volunteers will work in the United States, China, and South Africa to host charitable clinics in communities that otherwise wouldn’t have access to eye care. These are free vision clinics where patients get an eye exam and, if needed, a pair of glasses made just for them. Additionally, OneSight’s global team of vision center staff—situated in communities across the US, Rwanda, Zambia, Liberia, South Africa, The Gambia, Bangladesh, China, and Timor Leste—will continue their efforts to deliver high quality vision care to patients at permanent vision centers located in their communities. Patients served through school vision screenings and OneSight’s vision voucher program will round out the programming during this special month. Together, these efforts will help OneSight to empower over 25,000 children and adults!

“With our supporters and partners, OneSight is dedicated to changing lives and communities as we help create a world where lack of access to vision care is no longer a barrier to human potential. World Sight Day acts as an annual reminder of the vital role that vision care plays in the future of our world,” said K-T Overbey, OneSight President and Executive Director. Vision empowers so much more than clear sight—it impacts education, wage parity, gender equality, and so much more. It has the power to shape communities, economies, and entire populations. That’s why it’s so critical that everyone, everywhere can access an eye exam and glasses when they need them.

Together with support from individuals and in partnership with organizations like IAPB, OneSight will continue this World Sight Day and every day to close the world’s vision care gap one vision check and one pair of glasses at a time.
