IAPB members met for 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE held in Dubai on March 2nd and 3rd to discuss our new strategy for the sector and next steps after the UN general assembly resolution. Discussions were focused on Strategic priorities, WHO guide for action, Tackling refractive error, School eye health programs, Rooting national strategy in collective actions and weaving cross border community of practice to accelerate best practices and working with private sector to deliver eye care.

It would be good to develop few model strategies to be adopted by member countries and start action on them as soon as possible.

It was a great pleasure to attend such an amazing event 2030 IN SIGHT Live in Dubai along with other 32 colleagues from Nepal and interact with the eye care sector delegates from around the globe, renewing friendships and meeting new supporters. I really loved all the events and learned a lot from different sessions.
I really enjoyed the session “A National Action Workshop: Rooting national strategy in collective action” where we learned that Bangladesh has already begun putting the 2030 In Sight strategy into action. I have envisioned the same, developing collective action through participatory systems mapping and discussing strategies to instigate change and implement the 2030 in sight strategy in Nepal and it really gave me in-depth overview.
SESSION: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – a powerful lever for eye health? Was really an important session for Nepalese delegates and we learned how the SDGs are a critical opportunity to unlocking political will and how to maximise this potential and turn commitment into action.
We know that Integrated people-centred eye care (IPEC) is the answer to many of the eye health sector’s challenges – meeting the growing need, dealing with demographic and lifestyle changes that impact eye health, scaling up services and tackling inequality of care.
A Regional Action Workshop: Integrated People Centred Eye Care Introductory Materials was really useful where I got first in-depth overview on where we can start when implementing Integrated People-centred Eye Care (IPEC) in Nepal.
I can’t believe that just a few weeks ago we gathered in Dubai and met different renowned eye care personalities of eye care. I really loved the event and look forward to keeping in touch and crossing paths very soon.

I and Kumudha Thirunavukkarasu, Senior Manager at IVI, attended the meetings of IAPB’s 2030 In Sight LIVE and the Clear Vision Coalition in Dubai. The meetings were very useful to explore ways to step up partnerships in our work to fight avoidable blindness.
IVI looks forward to working with more partners in our programmes across India and to strengthen our ability to better deliver sustainable services to underserved communities.
The meetings in Dubai were well planned and organised. It was particularly useful for us as an NGO focusing on refractive error correction for prevention of avoidable blindness. The meeting with the Coalition for Clear Vision was very useful and we look forward to forging greater cooperation among organisations.

For me 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE was a great beginning for achieving 2030 target of IPEC. It was a different meeting where all the stakeholders (including private sector as well as industry working in eye care) were involved. Throughout the meeting all the participants were kept engaged and we all learnt more about each other. It also opened ways for new connections and development with other sectors. I am sure this is just the beginning of our 2030 VISION for Everyone and we will see more interactive sessions and more active engagement of all the members and other stakeholders.
