The 20th Annual VISION 2020 India Conference was held in Bengaluru from 10-12 July 2026, bringing together eye health professionals, policymakers, NGOs, development partners and other stakeholders from across India. Hosted by Sankara Eye Hospitals in association with VISION 2020 India, the conference was held under the theme “Innovation, Collaboration and Impact in Eye Care – Vision for Viksit Bharat 2047.”
IAPB was actively engaged in the conference. IAPB CEO Peter Holland was one of the key speakers at the event, and he spoke about leadership in eye health, highlighting the importance of strong leadership, collaboration, and collective action to address the changing needs of the eye health sector.
IAPB also conducted a dedicated session on commitments for the Global Summit for Eye Health, providing an opportunity to discuss how eye care organizations can make meaningful commitments at the Global Summit for Eye Health.
The IAPB South-East Asia regional team, together with Peter Holland, attended the conference and participated in different discussions and sessions. The team also had the opportunity to meet with government officials, several IAPB members and partners from India. These interactions provided a good opportunity to strengthen relationships, understand members’ priorities, and discuss opportunities for closer collaboration.
The conference covered a wide range of topics, including universal eye health, innovation and technology, workforce development, partnerships, quality of care, and improving access to eye care services. For IAPB, the meeting was also an opportunity to share the regional perspective and learn from the experiences of India’s eye health community.
The Bengaluru meeting highlighted the importance of working together across governments, NGOs, professional organizations, the private sector, and other partners. For IAPB, stronger collaboration with its members remains important to turn commitments into action and accelerate progress towards universal eye health.
The conference was therefore a valuable opportunity for the IAPB team to connect with members, strengthen partnerships, and support the momentum towards the Global Summit for Eye Health.
