Sheba Global Ophthalmology

Sheba Medical Center is the largest hospital in Israel and the Middle East, annually serves nearly 2 million patients. Recognizing global health challenges, Sheba acknowledges the widespread burden of vision impairment, in alignment with the WHO World Report on Vision and its 2030 goals. In response, Sheba Global Ophthalmology (SGO) was established to promote equity in eye care worldwide.

SGO employs a four-pillar system to strategically address global eye care inequalities:

  • Humanitarian Outreach and Capacity Building
  • Education and Training
  • Advocacy and Networking
  • Research and Development

With a global population of 7.9 billion, international collaboration is not just foundational but crucial in treating preventable blindness. SGO envisions becoming a leading center for Global Ophthalmology, uniquely positioned in the Middle East.
