Dr Unity Honey Dokie Fahn and Dr George Tamba Bornguoi became the first graduates of the IAPB member L V Prasad Eye Institute’s (LVPEI) Ophthalmology Residency Training Program in Liberia. This marks a historic moment for the partners running the programme: the Liberian College of Physicians and Surgeons, Lions Clubs International Foundation, the Ministry of Health, Government of Liberia, LDS Charities and Operation Eyesight and the run by LVPEI. LVPEI started the programme in 2018 at the John F Kennedy Memorial Medical Center, Monrovia, Liberia.

Dr Unity Honey Dokie Fahn and Dr George Tamba Bornguoi are the first graduates of this programme and the formal graduation ceremony happened on 12 November 2021. This is of great significance to the people in Liberia, and aligned to the aim of LVPEI to make Liberia self-dependent for eye care delivery.
