Dr Ahmed Trabelsi is the President of Nadi Al Bassar (North African Center for Sight and Visual Sciences) in Tunisia which provides eye care services and training throughout the Middle East and Africa with a special focus on Francophone Africa. Dr Trabelsi is also a Retina specialist, Chairman of the Clinique Ophtalmologique de Tunis, the first private ophthalmic hospital in North Africa. He was also a co-chair of IAPB Eastern Mediterranean Region.
He has been actively a part of IAPB for nearly 30 years and has participated in all of the former IAPB Partnership Committee and later Council of Members meetings as well as the General Assemblies, and has served on the IAPB Board. One of his hospital’s major achievements is the establishment of human resource development programmes in 11 Francophone African countries, a major objective of IAPB. Nadi Al Bassar collaborates with societies to increase Francophone membership, offer scientific programmes in French, and provide additional French-language resources to the countries and to AAO and ICO.
