Eye Health Hero: Myrna Leticia Luévano González

It’s a pleasure for me to be writing to the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) in behalf of the hospital I represent, and to be nominating Dr. Myrna Leticia Luévano González for this year award.

Myrna has joined our hospital in 2018 when she started her ophthalmology fellowship, from the beginning we observed in her many qualities that speak of a responsible and dedicated person to her work. During the three years of her fellowship she played a great role in the academic, humanitarian and collaborative environment. Having leadership skills, during her second year of residency she was selected to play the role of resident coordinator of her same year being a worthy representative of her peers she was involved in the learning of each of them. During her ophthalmology fellowship, she participated in several extramural charity campaigns organized by the hospital, pointed to the most vulnerable sectors of the Mexican population to eliminate avoidable blindness. She is productive and reliable always showing her willingness to help others

She was named chief resident while in her third year of residency and was instrumental in developing effective plans for the hospital’s timely return to the new normal we experienced because of the pandemic.

She has been awarded multiple distinctions for her great academic performance and for her comprehensive training, thanks to which she was unanimously approved with honorific mention in her professional exam. Continuing with her enormous desire to continue her education, she is currently pursuing her fellowship in orbit and oculoplastics, always looking to improve her skills, without leaving aside her updating in all areas of ophthalmology, for which she continues to participate in multiple colloquiums related to visual health. She always demonstrates his enthusiasm for continuous teaching to his colleagues of better hierarchy, leaving the legacy of love for ophthalmology

She is an outstanding young ophthalmologist. Therefore, I fully-heartedly support this nomination in the Future Leaders Category.
