India Vision Institute’s strategy includes assisting India in becoming a leader in vision science research. To achieve this, we have been working with a taskforce initiated by IVI on a range of activities. One such initiative is ResMeet, an annual conference that aims to promote the research culture and see more and more eye health professionals come to the fore in vision science research to find solutions for health problems.

This year’s ResMeet supported by Zeiss India, brought together leaders in cutting-edge innovation in optometry and vision science from India and around the world. The event drew some 200 attendees on June 18 and 19. In addition to the session chairs, 22 speakers from India and abroad reached 25 countries making it a globally significant vision science event.

The theme of ResMeet’22 was Translational Research. Topics covered included Visual Neuroscience, Structure – Function Correlation, Physiological Optics, Multidisciplinary Ophthalmic Imaging, Technology and Innovation, and Visual Consequences of Brain Injury.

The keynote speaker was Dr Michael Twa, Editor-in-Chief, Optometry and Vision Science – Journal of the American Academy of Optometry who spoke on Global Distribution of Vision Science Research.

The session chairs included Dr Shrikant Bharadwaj and Dr Premnandhini Satgunam (LVPEI), Dr Jameel Rizwana, Rivoli Vision Academy, Dr Ramesh S Ve, Professor, Manipal College of Health Professions, and Dr Aiswaryah Radhakrishnan, SRM Institute of Science and Technology.
