Tal como lo habíamos anunciado, el día jueves el jueves 29 de mayo 2025 hemos llevado a cabo nuestra reunión presencial de miembros de la Región Latino América, en el Holiday Inn Express & Suites de Bogotá, Colombia, evento que se hizo previamente al inicio del Congreso Panamericano de Oftalmología.
La reunión fue liderada por la Presidenta de nuestra región, la Dra. Valeria Sánchez y también contó con la visita desde Londres del Director Ejecutivo de la IAPB, Peter Holland y Drew Keys, Director de Política, Estrategia y Abogacía de la IAPB. Asimismo, hemos tenido una concurrencia varios miembros de la región lo cual ha enriquecido en nivel de los debates y ha permitido un intercambio ameno entre todos.
En la primera parte de la reunión, los miembros presentes han podido compartir lo que vienen haciendo en sus países y los desafíos que enfrentan y en una segunda parte se pudo hablar del próximo Global Summit de Salud Ocular que se espera se realice en 2026/ Ha sido un tiempo muy valioso que también permitió estrechar vínculos y vivir momentos de intercambio y camaradería.
Face-to-face Latin American Region members meeting in Bogotá, Colombia
As previously announced, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, we held our in-person meeting of members of the Latin American Region at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Bogotá, Colombia, prior to the start of the Pan-American Congress of Ophthalmology.
The meeting was led by our Regional Chair, Dr. Valeria Sánchez, and was also attended by IAPB CEO Peter Holland and Drew Keys, IAPB Director of Policy, Strategy, and Advocacy, who traveled from London to attend. Several members from the region also attended, which enriched the discussions and allowed for a lively exchange among all participants.
In the first part of the meeting, the members present were able to share what they have been doing in their countries and the challenges they face. In the second part, we discussed the next Global Summit for Eye Health , which is expected to take place in 2026. It was a very valuable time that also allowed us to strengthen ties and enjoy moments of exchange and camaraderie.
