FOCA aims to promote sustainable development through access to visual health of the best quality at the lowest cost, creating independent communities, in charge of their own change.

Our objectives are:
– To reduce and prevent needless blindness in the Caribbean Coast of Colombia
– Reduce cases of blindness due to cataract, amblyopia in children, Visual impairment due to refractive errors.
– Early identification of visual pathologies such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy
– Improve quality of life and productive capacity of the population served

One of the main problems in Colombia when it comes to visual health, is accessibility. Among other barriers, ophthalmologist and specialists are located in specific cities around the country, leaving everyone outside these unattended and in need to travel to get this service. Many people in these communities tend to self-medicate, seek assistance at a pharmacy, or do nothing at all, ending in another case of preventable blindness.

FOCA focuses on working on this, making sure no one is left behind.
We have clinics in Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Cartagena, Riohacha and Valle Dupar. Besides our daily work in the clinics, we also plan projects that reach the municipalities in the department of the Caribbean Coast, assuring access there.
