RestoringVision is tackling the vision crisis head-on, focusing on presbyopia—the age-related deterioration of a person’s near vision and the most common cause of vision impairment. Globally, 826 million people are living with presbyopia, limiting their ability to work, to learn, and to thrive. By providing equitable access to essential vision screening and near-vision eyeglasses to those living on less than $2 a day, RestoringVision is transforming lives, unlocking the human potential that lies at the intersection of health, education, and livelihoods. Since its founding in 2003, the organization has reached more than 34 million people across 150+ countries.

RestoringVision’s proven programs are implemented in partnership with over 3,000 INGOs, NGOs, governments, and social enterprise partners in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe. The organization and its partners co-create and implement cost-effective programs that integrate vision screening and eyeglasses distribution into existing public health services. These programs leverage RestoringVision’s strong relationships with eyeglasses manufacturers and other optical partners to meet each country’s needs and scale programs globally.

RestoringVision is also recognized as a leading voice and advocate for the global prioritization of eye health. The organization has leadership roles in IAPB, the World Health Organization’s Global SPECS Network, United Nations Friends of Vision Secretariat, and The Coalition for Clear Vision.
