2026 APAO Cross-Regional Meeting | Hong Kong

Session Purpose:

This half-day session convenes members and key partners from the Southeast Asia and Western Pacific Regions to provide strategic updates from the IAPB, build practical skills in using the Investment Case for advocacy, and deepen engagement in the lead-up to the 2026 Global Summit for Eye Health. A central focus will be the Global Eye Health Compact, including a hands-on workshop to begin shaping how governments, organisations, and partners might contribute to national and institutional commitments. The session will conclude with the formal Launch of the Early Intervention in Paediatric Myopia Policy Brief and Advocacy Guide, featuring a panel of diverse stakeholders discussing real-world application. Lunch will be provided to all participants following the event.

Aims and Objectives:

By the end of the session, participants will:

• Gain clarity on current IAPB priorities and upcoming opportunities in 2026.
• Understand how to use the Investment Case and practice applying it to country-specific advocacy scenarios.
• Be updated on the 2026 Global Summit for Eye Health, including expected outcomes and opportunities for engagement.
• Gain an understanding of the Global Eye Health Compact and contribute to the early consultation and design thinking, including drafting initial ideas for commitments and practical actions.
• Learn about the Early Intervention in Paediatric Myopia Policy Brief and Advocacy Guide and consider how its recommendations and guidance can be applied in different contexts.
