The 2021 United Nations General Assembly’s Resolution on Vision along with other political commitments, underscores the global recognition that eye health is a critical economic, social, and development issue, and integral to achieving Universal Health Coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals. There now needs to be collective and coordinated action to translate these commitments into tangible progress at a national level, ensuring that everyone everywhere has access to eye care services, and can reach their full potential.

The Global Summit for Eye Health aims to galvanise global action to achieve this.

Its objectives are to:

  • Harness political leadership to agree and deliver new national policy goals and commitments.
  • Mobilise resources and finances to generate transformational change.
  • Secure national eye health roadmaps and accountability framework.
  • Champion and raise awareness of eye health globally.

This important meeting will:

  • Provide an early look at the Global Summit Policy Framework
  • Explain how members can engage at the country level to support the success of the Global Summit for Eye Health
  • Offer a space for questions with fellow IAPB members

This meeting will be held on Tuesday 13 May at 9.00 BST and 16.00 BST. You are only required to attend one of these
meetings.
