Western Pacific

The IAPB Western Pacific Region covers 28 diverse countries in the Pacific, Oceania and parts of Asia. The region stretches over a vast area, from China and Mongolia in the north, to New Zealand in the south.

The Western Pacific is one of the most diverse regions in the world, home to nations of every size, geography, and population density, as well as rapidly growing economies and economic powerhouses. This diversity brings unique challenges for eye health, from reaching remote communities to ensuring equitable access and that demand for services can be met in major urban centres.

IAPB works closely with governments and partners across the region to strengthen leadership and governance in eye health, and to identify shared policy priorities. Together, we are building the case for action on critical issues like uncorrected cataract and refractive errors and diabetic eye disease.

We focus on turning evidence into action, supporting members to embed eye health in national strategies, strengthen health systems, and ensure no one is left behind. In the lead-up to the Global Summit for Eye Health, we are highlighting regional priorities, sharing lessons across countries, and fostering collective leadership.
