Taller de Salud Pública Ocular en Perú

En el marco del congreso Optovisión organizado por el Instituto EuroHispano, miembro reciente de IAPB, se desarrolló un taller de salud pública ocular, donde se presentaron los principales aspectos de la estrategia 2030 In Sight y se socializaron necesidades visuales y oculares en Perú, así como también las actividades en promoción y prevención de la salud ocular que realiza el Instituto Nacional de Oftalmología INO, el Instituto EuroHispano de Optica y Optometría, y los voluntarios de Rotarios Internacional.

Within the framework of the Optovision congress organized by the EuroHispano Institute, a recent member of IAPB, an ocular public health workshop was held, where the main aspects of the 2030 In Sight strategy were presented and visual and ocular needs in Peru were socialized, as well as the activities in promotion and prevention of ocular health developed by the National Institute of Ophthalmology INO, the EuroHispano Institute of Optics and Optometry, and the volunteers of Rotary International.

Severo Sánchez director del Instituto Eurohispano, compartió con la audiencia experiencias valiosas vividas con su equipo de trabajo durante las brigadas realizadas por todo el país, donde se destaca el apoyo de los rotarios y las cuales son un escenario idóneo de servicio social y formación para los estudiantes.

Severo Sánchez, director of the Eurohispano Institute, shared with the audience valuable experiences lived with his team during the outreach campaigns carried out throughout the country, where the support of Rotary stands out, and which are a social service focus, and a training scenario for the students of the Institute.

El Director del INO, Dr. Félix Cotrina resaltó el impacto del trabajo de un equipo interdisciplinario de médicos oftalmólogos, técnicos en optometría, personal de enfermería y de los convenios con el Ministerio de Salud del Perú, para alcanzar la cobertura de 13,963 cataratas operadas entre los años 2007 y 2023 beneficiando 23 regiones del país.

The Director of the INO, Dr. Félix Cotrina highlighted the impact of the work of an interdisciplinary team of ophthalmologists, optometry technicians, nursing staff and the agreements with the Ministry of Health of Peru, to achieve coverage of 13,963 cataract surgeries performed between the 2007 and 2023, benefiting 23 regions of the country.

El Doctor Antonio Touzett, destacó como estrategia del INO en salud comunitaria, el abordaje de las necesidades de la población en su lugar de origen, es decir llevar los servicios a las zonas rurales para disminuir las barreras de acceso, no sólo enfocándose en la atención individual de quienes buscan la atención en el hospital. Es así como el INO, ha logrado entregar sin costo para los pacientes más de 12 mil ayudas refractivas a los niños del Perú, entre el 2011 y 2022.

Doctor Antonio Touzett highlighted as an INO strategy in community health, addressing the needs of the population in their place of origin, that is, bringing services to rural areas to reduce access barriers, not only focusing on individual in the hospital. This is how the INO has managed to deliver more than 12,000 refractive aids to the children of Peru at no cost to patients, between 2011 and 2022.

El foro de visión permitió a los diferentes actores de la salud ocular del Perú, socializar las fortalezas y necesidades del País, y en el marco de la estrategia 2030 In Sight, encontrar oportunidades de trabajo conjunto en el alcance de la misión hacia el año 2030.

The vision forum allowed the different actors of ocular health in Peru to socialize the strengths and needs of the Country, and within the framework of the 2030 In Sight strategy, find opportunities to work together in the scope of the mission towards the year 2030.
