Sante Initiative Uganda Limited

Sante Initiative Uganda is a community-led eye health and social impact organisation working to reduce preventable blindness and avoidable vision impairment among underserved communities in Uganda. We bring eye health awareness, screening, affordable corrective products, referral linkage, follow-up, and community-level data capture closer to people through grassroots structures such as VHTs/CHWs, market hubs, taxi parks, schools, savings groups, community associations, and local health partners.

Our model goes beyond the distribution of reading glasses. We use presbyopia and vision screening as an entry point to identify broader eye health needs, including refractive errors and suspected cataract, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and other conditions requiring further assessment. Through partnerships with health facilities, eye care providers, and specialist actors, Sante aims to strengthen community-to-facility pathways for advanced eye care management, including prescription glasses, specialist consultations, cataract surgeries, post-surgical follow up and follow up on usage of the glasses.
