Latter-day Saint Charities

LDS Charities is the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our purpose is to relieve suffering, foster self-reliance and provide opportunities for service for people of all nationalities and religions.  We provide emergency relief assistance in times of natural disasters. In addition, our signature programs include clean water, neonatal resuscitation training, vision care, wheelchairs, immunizations, food production, and other community projects.

The mission of our Vision Care initiative is to prevent avoidable blindness and visual impairment as we strengthen eye care services to the poor by mentoring vision professionals who work in health care organizations. We also provide equipment, supplies, and organizational support to these eye care professionals and programs.

Specialists volunteer their time in which they help provide training, equipment, and supplies to assist local eye care professionals and programs. Since 2003 more than 550,000 people have benefited from LDS Charities vision projects throughout the world.
