Join the Leading Global Eye Health Alliance.
MembershipIAPB has been driving collective action to end avoidable sight loss by 2030, and in recent years, this momentum has continued to accelerate.
At the heart of this effort is the 2030 In Sight strategy (link), a sector-wide blueprint that frames eye health as a fundamental economic, social, and development priority. It calls on the global eye health community to:
IAPB’s campaigns translate these strategic priorities into real-world impact. Anchored in the ACTIVATE pillar, campaigns ensure that visibility and engagement help in moving eye health from awareness to action.
World Sight Day and Love Your Eyes
Achieving the 2030 In Sight goals requires more than technical solutions or policy commitments. It demands a shift in how societies understand, prioritise, and act on eye health. IAPB’s communications play a pivotal role in enabling this shift, using compelling narratives, evidence-based messaging, and sustained engagement to position eye health as a development, health, and economic priority.
The Love Your Eyes campaign, centred on World Sight Day, is the flagship platform bringing the 2030 In Sight strategy to life. It emphasises that eye care is integral to resilient health systems, engaging ministries, employers, educators, and service providers to normalise integrated approaches to prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. By encouraging individuals to check their vision, share stories, and advocate for change, the campaign generates bottom-up demand, strengthens the workforce, fosters affordable solutions, and influences policymakers and markets; turning awareness into tangible action. The World Sight Day 2025 Campaign Report highlights its impact:
These outcomes reflect more than awareness. They demonstrate growing public demand for eye care, reinforcing the case for policy change, investment, and system-level integration.
Every Story Counts
As part of the campaign, Every Story Counts highlighted voices of people with lived experience of vision loss. These stories turn statistics into human realities, building empathy and urgency while reinforcing the importance of investing in eye health. Over 100 stories from around the world strengthened the global call to action for ending avoidable sight loss.
Looking Ahead to 2026
In 2026, IAPB will build on the success of Love Your Eyes and Every Story Counts, while expanding campaign efforts around the first-ever Global Summit for Eye Health to be hosted in Antigua & Barbuda, convening hundreds of stakeholders from across the globe.
These communications and advocacy efforts will be underpinned by growing global recognition of the economic and social case for investment in eye health. Evidence from The Value of Vision continues to demonstrate that proven, cost-effective interventions not only restore sight, but also boost productivity, strengthen education outcomes, support workforce participation, and reduce pressure on health and social systems.
By bringing leaders together at the Summit, IAPB and partners will translate this evidence into political momentum, galvanising commitment, unlocking resources, and accelerating delivery. Together, we will move from awareness to accountability, and from ambition to implementation, as we drive the 2030 In Sight strategy forward.
