The 2030 In Sight Systems Map

The 2030 In Sight Systems Map aims to support a reflective dialogue about the key issues blocking progress toward ending avoidable sight loss.

As outlined in the guide Systems Change and Eye Health, the transformational change called for by the 2030 In Sight strategy requires a Systems Change approach in order to achieve its ambitious goals. Acknowledging this, IAPB and its members embraced the opportunity to develop an eye health system map, with the support of SIMFO.

To get started, we drew upon the state of the eye health system as synthesised through the outstanding work of the World Report on Vision (2019) and the Lancet Global Health Commission on Global Eye Health (2021). The IAPB strategy steering committee oversaw the mapping work, ensuring that the graphical translation was accurate and aligned with the spirit of our collective commitment.

The purpose of the 2030 In Sight Systems Map is to serve as a focal object around which a diverse collection of system stakeholders — from across organisations, disciplines, and sectors can hold a reflective dialogue about the key issues blocking progress toward ending avoidable sight loss. This map serves to demonstrate the systems mapping process, and also provides a template for further mapping work as a national or local level.
