A new VISION 2020: The Right to Sight – INDIA Board has been elected at the 19th Annual General Body Meeting held at Gomabai Netralaya, Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. The new Board’s term is effective for three years starting from 27th August 2023.

The Board consists of representatives from the eye care industry, INGOs, national NGOs and national eye care institutions.

The executive committee elected is:

1) President: Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital, represented by Dr. Rajesh Saini.

2) Vice-President: Operation EyeSight Universal, represented by Dr. Lloyd Troydon Cunningham.

3) Secretary – Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, All India Institute of Medical
Sciences, New Delhi, represented by Prof. Praveen Vashist.

4) Treasurer – Seva Foundation, represented by Mr. Kuldeep Singh

The other Board Members comprise of the founder members, zonal representatives, national coordinators and industry representatives. The Board is active and all members are looking forward to closely working with the new Board.

Welcoming the new Board, Dr. Rajesh Saini, President, VISION 2020: The Right to Sight – India said,“The current board is committed to building on the significant progress made by our distinguished past presidents and board members. I welcome all the new Board members 2023- 2026 with a blend of young members along with experienced ones.

Talking of the road map for the 3-year tenure of the board, “Our primary objective is to further strengthen the VISION 2020 INDIA consortium and advocate with the government at both the state and central levels to ensure that we achieve universal eye health.”

“At a global level, we are aligned with the WHO & IAPBs 2030 strategy for the Effective Cataract Surgical Coverage & Effective Refractive Error coverage through the network of our member eye hospitals & organizations.”
