Online training for young ophthalmologists

An online training opportunity for young ophthalmologists from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative by Ministry of Commerce of P.R.C. and China International Development Cooperation Agency. The training is going to be held in August 2022, and targeting young ophthalmologists from Sub-Saharan African countries.

It is a free ophthalmic online training course which comprehensively consolidates the foundation of trainees and standardizes surgical operation processes, filling the human resources gap in African ophthalmology. It is hosted by Shenyang Normal University, He Eye Specialist Hospital and AIBO (Academy for International Business Officials) from August 1-31,2022. Topics include the development trend and prospect of global blindness and ophthalmology, surgical thinking and concepts, understanding of blindness prevention and treatment in China and much more.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, the trainees have to be: ophthalmologists or optometrists with 2-10 years working experience, attend no less than 70% of the course. When finishing, each trainee will receive a certificate issued by Ministry of Commerce of P.R.C. and delivered by the Chinese Embassy in each country.

They are looking to enroll 40 formal trainees at maximum. They are also planning to welcome informal participants whoever are interested in any of the topics to join when they have time. Participants also need to have English ability in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
