Biggest prize in vision awarded to innovative joint programme in Africa

The 2015 António Champalimaud Vision Award was announced this 7 September by recognising the Kilimanjaro Project, a unique collaboration developed by the Kilimanjaro Centre for Community Ophthalmology (KCCO), the Seva Foundation and Seva Canada in order to combat vision disorders, tackle poverty and create economic sustainability in communities across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Signalling a triumph for the power of collaboration, the three organisations combine their specific resources to achieve universal eye care coverage, while promoting sustainable development and microcredit programmes.

IAPB wishes to congratulate this fantastic achievement by three of its members, which is also a recognition to the ethos of partnership work.
