Environmental Sustainability Masterclass at WOC 2018
The Environmental Sustainability Work Group will be holding  “Masterclass in Environmental Sustainability” at the 2018 World Ophthalmology Congress® in Barcelona, Spain.

This masterclass will discuss ongoing research in environmental sustainability of ophthalmology and the approaches various organisations have taken to incorporate sustainable practices in their services. Cassandra Thiel says, “Our overarching goal is for attendees to take home some of the principles shared through this masterclass, so that they, too, can reduce their footprint and improve costs and access to eye care.”

Speakers include Dr. Babar Qureshi CBM, Rachel Stancliffe of the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, Dr. R. D. Ravindran of Aravind Eye Care System, Hannah Faal of the University of Calabar, Tanya Harris from the Fred Hollows Foundation, Neil Murray and Gerhard Schlenther of RANZCO, Andy Cassels-Brown from the NHS, and Cassandra Thiel of NYU School of Medicine.

The Environmental Sustainability work group will be tackling issues around environmental sustainability, one of the biggest global health priorities. The first meeting of the workgroup took place at the Council of Members in Kathmandu, Nepal.
