RANZCO was pleased to be support and celebrate NAIDOC week 2020 8-15 November.

RANZCO respectfully acknowledges all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their continuing connection to land, sea, culture and community. Those interested in some additional detail regarding the current state of Indigenous eye health in Australia are encouraged to read the Indigenous eye health measures 2020 report, released 5 November by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. The report shows some encouraging improvements, including a reduction in the prevalence of active trachoma in children aged 5-9 in at-risk communities from 15% in 2009 to 4.5% in 2019. There is also a marked increase in eye-health check rates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, to 30% in 2018-19 from 11% in 2010-11.
