The Al Basar International Foundation – The Makkah eye complex Maradi and Niger Institute for Comprehensive Eye health

Al Basar International Foundation is working on the prevention of blindness in Africa and Asia, through provision of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary eye care by establishing eye hospitals, mobile outreach, community eye care and indigenous human resource development , Foundation has established 29 eye hospitals in Africa and Asia and has conducted more than 1550 free eye camps in 46 countries of those regions as well as establishing 3 centers of excellence for Human Resource Development (HRD).

Looking to strengthen eye health services and human resources development in the Francophone region, the Foundation has extended its activities in the Niger Republic by establishing a center of excellence, the Makkah eye complex Maradi to provide tertiary eye care.  Attached to the complex will be the Niger Institute for Comprehensive Eye health (NICE) to provide support to HRD in the Francophone region.  The institute is in the process of registration with courses expected to start from August 2020.  The proposed courses on offer will be

  1. Bsc Optometry
  2. Bsc Biomedical
  3. Technician superior ophthalmologique
