Two Months Left to Submit Your Global Summit Commitment

With just two months remaining until the deadline to submit commitments for the Global Summit, now is the time to finalise your pledge and demonstrate our united global voice and collective ambition to end avoidable sight loss by 2030.

Over the past few months, IAPB has been running a series of online and in-person workshops to support members in developing meaningful commitments for the Summit. These sessions have brought together senior leaders from across the eye health sector to share ideas, learn from one another, and ask questions. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we will continue to offer workshops and 1-to-1 meetings over the coming weeks.

Why make a commitment?

Commitments from governments, civil society and the private sector are one of the significant outcomes of the Global Summit. Together, they demonstrate that eye health is a shared priority that requires coordinated, collective action.

By pledging your commitment, it is also an opportunity to showcase the work your organisation is pledging to accelerate progress towards the mission of 2030 In Sight on a global platform. Your overarching commitment will be published in an official document, presented during the Global Summit, while all commitments and sub-commitments will be featured on the publicly accessible Commitment Portal, this visibility can help raise your organisation’s profile and create opportunities for future partnerships and collaboration.

Important information

• One commitment per organisation: Each stakeholder may submit one overarching commitment. Civil society organisations may also include multiple sub-commitments beneath their main commitment. There is no limit to the number of sub-commitments you can include.
• What gets published: Your overarching commitment statement will appear in the official document presented at the Summit, while all sub-commitments will be published on the Commitment Portal.
• Joint commitments: Organisations may choose to submit a joint commitment with one or more organisations. Please note that if you submit a joint commitment, you cannot also submit a separate individual commitment. This is different from listing implementation partners within your commitment, which you are still encouraged to do where appropriate.
• Review process: Once submitted, your commitment will be reviewed by the IAPB Commitment Assessment Team. If we require any additional information or clarification, we will contact you directly. Following IAPB’s review, commitments will be shared with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Summit’s technical collaborator, for final review.
• Annual reporting: We encourage all commitment makers to submit an annual progress update through the Commitment Portal to help demonstrate the collective impact of our sector.
• National alignment: Wherever possible, commitments should align with the national priorities and strategies of the country or countries in which they will be delivered.
