There are moments in global health work that feel bigger than a meeting or a convening; moments that reflect shared purpose, collective ambition, and the momentum of a global community moving in the same direction.
The IAPB Africa team led by Simon Day is truly delighted to welcome colleagues, partners, and friends from across the world to 2030 In Sight Live in Nairobi, Kenya.
This is more than a host city announcement for us. It is an invitation to experience a region where energy, innovation, and commitment to advancing eye health are not abstract ideas but lived reality.
We are especially looking forward to welcoming participants into a programme designed to reflect both urgency and possibility, from high-level dialogues with expert speakers to technical sessions that challenge thinking and sharpen collective action. We hope delegates will engage deeply, share generously, and help shape the next phase of progress towards universal eye health.
Beyond the main sessions, we encourage everyone to take full advantage of the spaces where some of the most meaningful exchanges often happen. The Member Engagement Day, side meetings, bilateral conversations, exhibitions and poster sessions where innovation is shared, partnerships are formed, and ideas quietly shift from possibility to action. These moments, though sometimes informal, are often where the most lasting impact begins.
Hosting in Nairobi brings its own meaning. It is a city of movement, ideas, and growing regional leadership; a place where conversations about health systems, equity, and innovation are already well underway. Bringing the global eye health community here allows us to ground ambition in context, and to connect global priorities with regional experience in a very real way.
