Championing and delivering Inclusive Eye Health

Our history

CBM Global Disability Inclusion is delighted to be joining IAPB. The former CBM International Federation made changes in 2019 to allow different parts of the Federation to focus on their priorities and areas of expertise. Seven CBM Member Associations (Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, UK, Ireland, Kenya and South Africa) agreed to register as a new federated entity named ‘CBM Global Disability Inclusion’. ‘CBM Global’ is the shortened name for this new entity.

What we do

CBM Global works alongside people with disabilities in the world’s poorest places to break the cycle of poverty and disability and build inclusive communities where everyone can enjoy their human rights and fulfil their full potential. Driven by Christian values, we work with the most marginalised in society, irrespective of race, gender or religion, recognising the equal worth of every individual.

Our programmes across Africa, Asia and Latin America are developed and delivered with local partner organisations to ensure long-term transformation and accountability and in keeping with the principle of “nothing about us without us” we work closely with organisations of people with disabilities. We support inclusive eye health, disability-inclusive community development and humanitarian action, community mental health, local to global advocacy and delivering inclusion advice to other organisations.

Our work in inclusive eye health includes the strengthening of national eye health systems; improving access to comprehensive inclusive eye health services; and bringing our mental health and disability inclusion expertise to support inclusive and integrated NTD programming with others.  Focus countries include Kenya, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines and Bolivia.

Pursuing partnerships

The CBM Federation has a long history of engagement with IAPB and now as CBM Global we are very keen to see this engagement continue within the new Federation. We look forward to sharing our learning with and drawing upon the experiences of IAPB members in your work towards the elimination of avoidable blindness and visual impairment.  We enjoy well established relationships with a range of IAPB members and we are keen to extend our partnerships further.
