- To mark 100 days (on the 6th of July ) to go until World Sight Day an ambitious campaign is launched to engage more members of the public than ever before
- IAPB aims to record 1 million sight tests pledged in the lead up to World Sight Day on October 14th
- Public are encouraged to think about their own eye health and get involved with the Love Your Eyes campaign
- A Global Challenge will take place on World Sight Day uniting the world in a global action.
In what is set to be the most ambitious World Sight Day campaign ever, IAPB and its members are calling on everyone to focus on their eye health in a global campaign – #LoveYourEyes. The theme and materials were launched on the 6th July to mark 100 days to go until World Sight Day on the 14th October.
Launching the campaign Peter Holland, CEO of IAPB said “Almost everyone on the planet will experience an eye health issue in their lifetime, yet more than a billion people worldwide do not have access to eye care services.
This is a global issue, but one that starts with us.”
“This World Sight Day, October 14th, we are calling on everyone who is able, to book a sight test, an exam, or a screening to check on their wellbeing of their eyes. We are asking people to pledge their tests as part of our Everyone Counts initiative”
Starting in September IAPB is attempting to get over 1 million eye tests pledged in the month leading up to World Sight Day and is asking individuals, eye care professionals, hospitals, NGOs and businesses to get involved because everyone counts.
Then on World Sight Day, IAPB will host a global challenge to unite the world, bringing people across the globe together to have their eyes tested.
The aim is to remind the world that everyone counts to demonstrate the importance of taking care of our own eye health and to highlight the work still to be done in achieving access to eye care services for everyone.
