Tele-Ophthalmology and Artificial Intelligence Conference Proceedings: Videos

On April 6, 2018 in New York City, the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute of Columbia University Medical Center hosted an inaugural Tele-Ophthalmology and Artificial Intelligence Conference. Speakers for the event hailed from the UK, the USA, Brazil, Canada and India. Presentations were divided into six sessions:

1. An Introduction to Tele-Medicine and Tele-Ophthalmology,
2. Research and Advances in Tele-Retina and Tele-Glaucoma Technologies (a video of the panel discussion afterwards),
3. Tele-Medicine and Population Health (and the panel discussion)
4. Existing and Disruptive Technologies in Tele-Ophthalmology (and the panel discussion)
5. Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Ophthalmology, and
6. Information Technology Security and the Role of Government in Tele-Medicine (and the panel discussion).

Aim of the Conference

The aim of the conference was to facilitate the exchange of experiences, research, and ideas in the emerging field of tele-ophthalmology for ophthalmologists, clinicians in other fields, and industry professionals. Participants explored cutting-edge topics in tele-ophthalmology, artificial intelligence, and the use of technology to improve access to care and healthcare outcomes. The comments that follow have resonance throughout the world of blindness prevention. It is a pleasure to make them available to all.
