LAICOThe Lions Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology (LAICO) has trained over 2660 trainees from 81 countries in eye care management. It offers various courses:

1. Certificate Course on Community Outreach and Social Marketing of Eye Care Services (Jun 14 – Jul 5, 2019) The objective of the course is to develop the skills of eye care programmes to partner with the community and thus enhance the number of surgeries and level of eye care services provided to the community. This course is offered twice a year (June, November). Read more

2. Project Management Training for Eye Care (September 2 – 16, 2019). This Project Management course is designed to help project managers to excel in planning and execution of projects. Read more

3. Eyexcel – Excellence in eye care training (Jul 29 – Aug 2, 2019). Eyexcel focuses on the training needs of mid-level ophthalmic personnel. This course prepares eye hospital teams to deliver high-quality training on a regular basis for mid-level ophthalmic personnel. Read more

4. Certificate Course for Vision Technicians (November each year) This course is meant for experienced ophthalmic assistants who want to upgrade their knowledge and skills for performing comprehensive primary eye screening and referral of patients in field settings. Read more

5. Certificate Course on Instruments Maintenance for Technicians (6 a year).This course also enables technicians to carry out preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and identify problems and carry out customer level maintenance. Technicians, paramedics and staff of eye hospitals, electricians who will take on the responsibility of maintaining and repairing of instruments can apply for this course. Read more
